NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING - Proposed Updates to Building By-law

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Zorra will hold a public meeting on the 6th day of November 2024, at 9:30 a.m., in the Council Chambers (163 Brock St. Thamesford) in order to consider proposed updates to the Building By-Law under Section 7 of the Building Code Act.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT
Council of the Township of Zorra will be considering an amendment to the Township of Zorra’s Building By-Law to increase 2025 building permit fees by 2.1% which is consistent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) as per the Annual Fee Increase and Comprehensive Review Policy No.: 500-009 approved on May 1, 2024. Fee adjustments would be effective January 1, 2025.
In addition to the proposed fee adjustment, other housekeeping updates to the by-law are also being proposed to be made at that time.
A report outlining the proposed fees was posted to the October 16, 2024, Council agenda and can be accessed here. An annual levy adjustment to building permit fees based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) will help ensure that our fees align with the cost of service provided.
Information will be provided at the meeting on the estimated costs of enforcing the Act under the Building Code in accordance with the Building Code Act, the amount of the proposed fees and the rationale for imposing the fees.
ANY PERSON may attend the public meeting and/or make written or verbal representation either in support of or in opposition to the proposed fees.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION related to the proposed fees is available during regular office hours at the Township Office.
Dated at the Township of Zorra this 16th day of October 2024.

Questions may be directed to the undersigned.
